Equipment Recommendations:
The goal of all your setups is to be neutral, flat, and comfortable to allow a base for athletic movement. Your setup should be complimentary to your body type and allow for your natural structure to drive the ski. Posting up, gas pedaling or artificially creating a bite with excessive canting or lifting is unsafe and causes the ski to respond unpredictably. Additionally, any excessive canting will cause the inverse effect on your opposite edge.
Additional equipment recommendations:
- Binding/Lifter Stack Height: 50mm Max
- Binding Lifter Ramp Angles: The toe piece should sit 1-3 mm lower than the heel
- Ski Base Bevel: .5
- Ski Side Bevel: DH, SG, GS = 3 degrees, SL = 4 degrees
- Daily Training Wax: Roll BP 88 or Toko Base Performance. Please use a wax roller or spray when possible.
- Race Wax: Swix TS/TSB line or Toko High Performance. Spray for Slalom.
- Boot Lifters and Cants: 3-4mm Lifters with the boot sole planed flat. Canting should only be prescribed by your coach and never more than .5 - 1 degree.
Athletes must have all safety equipment including FIS legal helmets, speed suits, back protectors, mouth guards and chin bars, cut-proof clothing, and event-specific protection such as slalom guards.
FIS athletes are recommended to have two pairs of GS and SL skis as well as one SG and DH ski. Skiers should have one pair of new boots seasonally. The structural integrity of boots and skis lasts about 100 days before they become damp and less responsive. Please order appropriately from your preferred manufacturer rep as soon as possible. There are speed skis available for rent on a short and long-term basis for athletes who do not have the ability to procure their own.
